The New Mexican Landscape ranges from wide, rose-colored deserts to broken mesas to high, snow-capped peaks. Despite New Mexico’s arid image, heavily forested mountain wildernesses cover a significant portion of the state. The millions of acres of national forests in New Mexico are protected by the Federal government. Tourists frequent the surviving native pueblos of New Mexico and bring significant monies to the state. Oil and gas production, tourism and federal government spending are the important drivers of the state economy. IBEW 1269 has members located primarily in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, with others working throughout the state.
