Colorado encompasses most of the Southern Rocky Mountains as well as the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains.  The state was named after the Spanish word “Colorado” which means “reddish colored” that presumably refers to the red sandstone formations in the area or reddish brown color of the Colorado River. Colorado is noted for its vivid landscape of mountains, plains, mesas, and canyons. The 30 highest major summits of the Rocky Mountains of North America all lie within the state. There are IBEW 1269 members located in a dozen offices throughout the state.
