General Report
AT&T Advertising Solutions:
Since the contract was ratified on Saturday September 18, 2010, a number of things have been occurring to insure a smooth transition to the new contract as well as to key members of your Union team to work with the company. Our efforts are to make sure that the message coming from the Union and the message coming from the company are one and the same. Some of what has been going on and what is coming up on our schedule is as follows:
September 29, 2010 – Meetings with Casey Lewis, Danny Deal and Jon Irelan to coordinate a message to the IBEW 1269 members explaining the nuances of the new compensation plan and other critical elements in the new collective bargaining agreement.
September 30, 2010 and October 1, 2010. Common Interest Forum Meetings with key company management leaders and key leaders from the Union. Special thanks to Union Leaders, Angie Low, Stefen Guthrie, Mike Waltz and Phil Hanley who have all played an integral role in helping deliver a unified message to the IBEW 1269 membership. Members from the company included: Danny Deal, Jon Irelan, Robert McGee, Bruce Bis, Rick Kliment, Michelle Barnes, Mike Lee, Ralph Vitales and new RVP Chris Hevesy. The meetings were a collaborative effort to move our sales organization in a way which will reward and recognize sales efforts and provide a positive environment which will allow optimum sales results. The contract was reviewed in detail and all parties were involved in the presentation which is now being delivered to our entire membership by Casey Lewis. The schedule so far for the Union presentation is as follows:
- Tuesday, October 5, 2010 Stockton Office
- Thursday, October 7, 2010 Bakersfield Office
- Friday, October 8, 2010 Fresno Office
- Tuesday, October 12, 2010 San Francisco Office
- Wednesday, October 13, 2010 Reno Office
- Wednesday, October 20, 2010 Sacramento Office
- Thursday, October 21, 2010 Chico Office
If you don’t see your office on the list yet, check back for dates. All offices will be seen in the next couple of weeks. I am arranging dates with your Chief Stewards and GM’s.
Digital Graphics Advantage (DGA)
New wage schedules as a result of the ratified PBD agreement are as follows and they shall be retroactive to September 1, 2010. As of the writing of this report I don’t know the exact date or payroll period in which the retroactive pay will show. It will be paid to all employees on the payroll at the time of ratification including any who may have been affected by the surplus/consolidation. DGA members do not receive a signing bonus. They received their signing bonus with their ratification vote last year.

As for details on your medical benefits. Your Union office is preparing a document which will detail for you the newly negotiated medical benefits including dental and vision care. This will arrive to you via mail in the next 2 weeks. It will also be available as a pdf file on this website. The Union is aware that a open enrollment period is ongoing. We have asked the company for an explanation because the newly changed benefits will not take effect until June 2011. As soon as we have an answer from the company I will post it here on the website.
YellowPages.com
Once again I ask for your patience. YellowPages.com negotiations were ongoing along with PBD and DGA for the last 3 months. In most areas we have an agreement, the last area is commissions and compensation. As a result of the newly created compensation model for PBD the parties believe they may have a good foundation for a new compensation model in YP.com which will benefit both the Union membership and the Company goals. The CXG group has been officially recognized and is a part of our collective bargaining unit. I am going to be in Las Vegas in the next week or so and will meet with key members of the CXG as well as key members of our bargaining committee to bring them up to date. If they believe a Union meeting would be well attended then we shall have one in Henderson NV followed with another in Charlotte NC. The company has made yet another significant leadership change at the bargaining table and in their senior leadership team. As far as the Union is concerned both changes have been for the good and we look forward to working with those individuals who are new to the process and bringing about a new collective bargaining agreement.
Dex One Corporation
I work together with Karen Gowdy on a daily basis to stay abreast of the daily going ons in our Dex jurisdiction. The state of the Dex organization appears to depend upon what office you work in. In the Tucson office things could not be worse. The management group leads by threats and intimidation. Based upon the things I hear it would not surprise me if there are simply no sales reps who want to work in Tucson anymore in the very near future. It’s too bad that some leaders cannot understand that sales representatives need a positive upbeat and enthusiastic environment to succeed. Being the boss is a far cry from being the leader. Bosses don’t motivate leaders do. Until some of the bosses in Dex understand that concept, they are destined for failure. On a more positive note, Karen Gowdy and I have requested a large amount of data to review with the company on the state of commission earnings for the IBEW 1269 members throughout the Dex footprint. Karen and I have heard complaints of lower overall earnings. Upon our full investigation and evaluation Karen will provide a report to the membership on what the status is regarding commission earnings.
Stay tuned,
Fraternally,
Casey M Lewis
