IBEW Local 1269 Business Manager, Peter Pusateri, sent an Alert to the Members of the San Francisco Labor Community, regarding the rally on NO to BAN distribution of Yellow Pages in San Francisco. Amber Parrish Baur, Political Director of the San Francisco Labor Council, responded by sending a flyer to members of the SF Labor Community.
The Alert states "The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has introduced legislation that would effectively ban distribution of Yellow Pages directories in the City of San Francisco. If passed, San Francisco residents would be forced to "opt-in" to continue receving printed directories. The Yellow Pages Association has already made it easy and convenient for consumers to have the choice they want by opting out, and this solution is working elsewhere." He let them know that "All employees who produce the AT&T Yellow Pages Directories are members of IBEW Local Union 1269. The San Francisco legislation is flawed and poses a threat to small businesses in San Francisco as well as to people who do not have access to the internet or other means of electronic information. Many jobs and much business will be lost if this legislation is voted in."
He asked them to support their sisters and brothers by showing up at the rally at SF City Hall (Polk St entrance) on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
